Jocelyn Dawkins
WOHC considers Jocelyn Dawkins to be our workstation expert- being able to apply ergonomic principles to all types of work places.
Jocelyn has been working in Occupational Health and Safety for more years than she wants to remember. It started on her OE in the late 1960's working as an occupational health nurse in a Meat Pie factory in London's east end. On her return to NZ Jocelyn worked for the Health Department for several years, then for Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) division of the Department of Labour and later for the University of Waikato. Her skills as a workstation assessor were fine-tuned in these roles.
The best part of her job is hearing someone say "Ahhh, that feels so much better already" after a few adjustments made during a half-hour assessment of a workstation where someone has reported early signs of discomfort.
